Best Practices for an Emerging Gift Planning Program and How to Reinvigorate a Long-Standing One

Tips for Marketing and selling your organization’s story through digital and print, how to establish a case for support for endowment giving, how to leverage your leadership- using a board campaign to initiate a planned giving campaign, how to leverage stewardship as a source for new gifts and cultivation and more.

Speaker Bio: Carlo Laurore is an incoming Board member of NACGP and a current board member of his local North Carolina Planned Giving Council Board. For work, Carlo leads the national planned giving efforts for Boy Scouts of America, where he has worked for the past 7 years. In addition to endowment growth initiatives and charitable gift planning, his team also supports funding strategy for DEI efforts, corporate partnerships, and Private Foundations.

Previously, Carlo worked in higher education fundraising at NC State University and NC A&T University. Of note, he is responsible for starting the gift planning program at NC A&T, where he helped close the largest gift from a non-alum individual at that time. Afterwards, at NC State he led a complete revamp and expansion of their gift planning marketing efforts. The outcome, a 150% increase in closed gifts from marketing-related leads.

Prior to his work in fundraising, Carlo worked for 8 years in the financial services industry for BB&T, where he held the title of Vice President and managed a $50+ million dollar portfolio of business loan clients.

He holds numerous financial planning and fundraising designations, including his CFP® and CFRE.

Most importantly, he has a heart for philanthropy, youth development, and helping non-profit organizations big and small maximize their fundraising efforts through soliciting gifts of non-cash assets and optimizing their gift planning program.
