Children’s National Hospital Foundation (CNHF) seeks a Development Coordinator to join the Gift Planning team. The Coordinator works as an integral member of the CNHF’s philanthropy team. This is a is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director of Gift Planning and collaborating with other teams within CNHF to support and build legacy gifts.

Based in the Washington, DC, area and available for hybrid remote work, the Coordinator supports CNHF's expanding Gift Planning fundraising program by coordinating fundraising and marketing efforts for Guardian Society members and prospects. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating stewardship events, meetings, and mailings and must possess the technical understanding to support data tracking and reporting from Raiser's Edge. The candidate should be able to manage ongoing personal cultivation with various stakeholders, including a mature and loyal donor segment, executors, trust officers, and attorneys.

Functional Accountabilities

Marketing, Stewardship and Event Support: Assisting the Associate Director, Gift Planning, the Coordinator will oversee the production timeline of the program's comprehensive marketing program and help to implement the execution of the integrated legacy campaign. Supports the gift planning program's work in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors capable of making legacy gifts. Compiles materials for new legacy members and responds to donor inquiries with appropriate information on bequests, stock donations, and other legacy gifts. Has direct donor contact, makes thank you calls, and sends personalized notes. Facilitates stewardship activities for Guardian Society members, including collaborating with the events department to coordinate all online and in-person events.

Database Entry and Expertise: Maintains all required Raiser's Edge coding necessary to track all outbound marketing efforts and inbound responses, including the actions needed to track new gift notifications and follow-up correspondence. Ensures proper handling of gift documentation and tracking for the team. Using Raiser's Edge, generates routine and ad hoc donor data/list requests. Performs regular quality control monitoring to ensure donor data is updated and accurate and works with our operations/data teams to ensure that all planned gifts are appropriately processed.

Administrative Support: Supports the Gift Planning team members in achieving strategic and fundraising goal. Assists the Associate Director in Gift Planning with tracking the marketing and event expenses; reviews and codes invoices, and submits check requests. Monitors the planned giving budget, tracks expenses against the program budget and processes team expense reports in a timely manner. Provides administrative support with scheduling, travel assistance, and record-keeping for team members. Accountable for the administration of the gift annuity program and serves as a point of contact for the outside vendor responsible for gift annuity financial administration.

Estate Administration: Responsible for managing day-to-day management and administration of the Foundation’s active estate, trusts, and other realized planned gifts. Prepares correspondence to law firms, trust officers, executors, and advisors and responds to routine requests for information. Coordinates approvals with internal legal and finance departments. Creates and maintains all Raiser Edge estate records with appropriate coding, actions, and gift information.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field (Required)

2 years of office experience (Required)

  • Must be a critical thinker, with strong problem-solving skills
